I am a New Zealand-based journalist interested in using immersive and interactive technologies to tell better stories.
I am the creative director of Vanishing Point – a storytelling studio creating projects that grab attention and hold it. Our latest work is an interactive documentary on New Zealand’s housing crisis that can be found here.
I was named Senior Feature Writer of the Year at the 2015 Canon Media Awards and won the 2014 award for Innovation in Multimedia Storytelling for Lost in the Long White Cloud – an interactive longform project.
More recently I have worked on other interactive projects including Into the Black, about one of New Zealand’s worst maritime disasters and two pieces from a international reporting trip to Thailand: Bodies for Profit and Fighting for Survival.
My work has appeared in the International New York Times, the Guardian, the Sydney Morning Herald and National Geographic Traveller.
I won Junior Reporter of the Year in 2011 and have worked in Africa, Indonesia, East Timor, Italy and India and covering everything from food crises and peacekeeping to the Venice Bienale and cricketing. I was named Cathay Pacific Travel Writer of the Year in 2012.
